Abstract

Earlier records of deep sea rock shrimp Sicyonia parajaponica are from off Chennai, northern part of southeast coast and off Kollam, southwest coast of India. The present report of Sicyonia parajaponica off Thoothukudi waters in Gulf of Mannar extends its distribution further south along southeast coast. It occurred at a depth of 310 m. It has been reported from Gulf of Aden, Phuket in the Andaman Sea, the Philippines, Australia, China and Taiwan.
